Pray

Our greatest need of all is for prayer.  You can become a part of this ministry with homeless children by simply remembering us in prayer.

ruby_bullit.gif (882 bytes)   Pray For the Children

Pray for abandoned and homeless children around the world.   Pray for those in the cities and town were we have projects.  Pray for the children who are in our homes or are touched by our services.

ruby_bullit.gif (882 bytes)   Pray For the Staff and Volunteers

Pray for those who have become the children's new parents in our homes and shelters.  Pray for those in roles as social workers and teachers.   Pray for those whose role it is to provide support, whether on a farm, in a home or office or on the streets and parks of the cities.

ruby_bullit.gif (882 bytes)   Pray For the Ministry Leaders

Pray for the leaders at each of the homes or projects.  Pray for leadership of our many ministry partners. Pray for the leadership of HCI-Kenya.   Pray for the leadership of Homeless Children International, Inc., including the President, the Board of Directors and the Advisory Board.

ruby_bullit.gif (882 bytes)   Pray For Governmental Leaders

Pray for those who have jurisdiction over our homes and projects.   Pray for those who have responsibility for administering the local and national social service agencies.  Pray for those who govern each nation, who set the national priorities and make the laws.

Volunteer

As a non-profit organization we rely a lot on volunteers, yet we have no organized volunteer program.  We depend on our volunteers to be creative, take the initiative, and to be flexible.  Volunteers often work with us individually but groups have also volunteered with us and have had great success.  Here are some ideas that may work for you.  Or come up with your own idea and give us a call.

ruby_bullit.gif (882 bytes)   Garage Sale

Hold a garage or sidewalk sale.  Collect items from your neighbors or church and use the proceeds to sponsor a project or ministry which you would like to become a part of.

ruby_bullit.gif (882 bytes)   Blanket Drive

Organize a blanket drive (or toys, shoes, clothes, tools, etc. depending on the needs of the project or ministry) and ship the results to the selected project.

ruby_bullit.gif (882 bytes)   Mission Trip

Consider spending next year's vacation in Kenya, Bolivia, Brazil or Peru working directly with the children and staff in one of the projects.  Teach music, paint a house, or provide a spring cleaning while spending time with the children and sharing in a different culture.

ruby_bullit.gif (882 bytes)   Be an Advocate

Become informed about the issues of homeless and abandoned children and use that information to influence others for change.  Share this ministry and this web site with your friends and co-workers.  Help us stay up to date by sharing information that you have with us.

ruby_bullit.gif (882 bytes)   Define your own role

Have a special talent or desire to be involved in a specific area?  Define your own role and lets talk.  Can you produce a newsletter or support other volunteers spread around the world?  Do you have a talent in administration or publicity you'd like to share?  What might the Lord be calling you to do?

Ministry Needs

One of the principles of Homeless Children International is to not solicit funds.   Rather, we believe that we should make our needs known and then pray, in faith, that God will answer these needs.  If you would like more specific information about one of these areas of ministry need, please contact us.

ruby_bullit.gif (882 bytes)   Child Sponsorship

Several of our ministries have sponsorship programs to pay for a child's care or education.

ruby_bullit.gif (882 bytes)   Adoption

Some of the homes with which we have a partnership are actively seeking adoptive parents.

ruby_bullit.gif (882 bytes)   Intervention Work

Whether we are extending outreach to homeless kids, sharing God's love by providing a home for abandoned children or providing meals and an informal education to street kids, there is a cost involved.  God has provided generous donors to allow us to proceed thus far.  We trust Him that more hearts will be touched to enable this work to be expanded to other children still in need.

ruby_bullit.gif (882 bytes)   Capital Purchases

Another principle of Homeless Children International is to never go into debt.  Purchasing land, building a new home, or equipping a home to run efficiently is done through in-kind and cash donations. Currently funds are needed for building and equipping our planned Cross Cultural Training Center. In addition, there are several other projects which will proceed, in the Lord's timing, as He provides the resources through individuals who decide to be involved in this way.

ruby_bullit.gif (882 bytes)   Operations/Administration

100% of the money and resources which we receive for intervention work (the homes, sponsorships, outreach, meals, schooling, etc.) goes to the work for which it was intended by the donor.  The organization does not hold any of it back to cover its own administrative or operation costs.  We keep these costs completely separate from our intervention funds and work hard to keep them to a minimum.  God continues to bless that effort by providing donations specifically for operations.

ruby_bullit.gif (882 bytes)   Endowment Fund

The Homeless Children International Endowment Fund exists for two reasons. First, it serves the purpose of supporting the operational needs of this ministry. Since Homeless Children International pledges to give 100% of any donation made to the intervention cause for which it is designated, this Endowment Fund allows the ministry to operate without taking any overhead out of donated intervention funds. Second, this Fund is also established as an emergency fund from which the Board of Directors can draw in the case of catastrophes or emergencies.

The Board of Directors has the full responsibility of overseeing the HCI Endowment Fund and seeing that the Fund is managed in support of the above mentioned goals. If you would like to speak with someone concerning this Fund, please contact us.
